Spent a while on Saturday at the footbridge in Phillippe Park. This site is a tidal creek leading from a mangrove swamp into Safety Harbor, the extreme NW end of Tampa Bay.
As the tide began to ebb around 7 pm, we had a feeding frenzy of wading birds. Among them was this reddish egret. It was having a minor confrontation with the a tricolor heron. When it was in the sun, its neck was really an almost startling shade of red. The close crop on the head is a "100% crop" - not resized at all.
C&C welcome.
