Hi guys,

I am doing some print design stuff for my dive shop and came across the DPI issue which the printers said that they need the design in 300DPI, which means the pictures that I have taken to be in 300DPI as well... so here is my qn.

I have a .psd document that was set to 300DPI when i created it, that's for my text fonts and layout stuff. Now I need to bring the pictures into the design. I physically keyed in the following dimension when creating the .psd files, DPI 300, Document size is 18cm X 13cm or roughly about 7" X 5" which gave me a pixel dimension of 2126 X 1535, which is right for the print size vs pixel size of the image created

When I take a picture with my camera set at Large Fine Jpg, the picture is displayed as (72 DPI) at the size of 3504W X 2336H in CS2, while i know that the 72DPI displayed has got nothing to do with the "REAL" DPI of the printed image and if i print it at the size of my document (7" X 5") that would give me roughly a 450 plus DPI print.

However, as much as i think i understand the DPI relation between pixel size and final print size, this is my qn...

The area or size i have in my .psd files for my images are restricted at 300 pixels wide, length is proportion to whatever it has to be(either in portrait or landscape). Now, how do i go about setting the original image from my camera to be able to able to do a min 300dpi at the 300 pixel wide size in my .psd file.

Hope this is clear enough on my explaination.

Thanx in advance

You should be able to do this when you load the jpg into photoshop. Just go to the image size dialog screen and type in the new dpi setting. Then resize or crop from there.
