Computers ( and programs) are driving me crazy! Is it just me or do oters suffer this way?

Apart from learning new programs far too often for my poor brain, (i.e. just updates yearly - basically Bridge-LR-PS ) I also have to set the right preferences etc for each as if that wasn't enough and then even when you have done that , things don't work as they should -it drives me crazy I tell you!

the last straw was just now trying to get my wacom tablet to behave properly ( the right click wasn't...right clicking) when someone called and ten when I went nback to using it the cursor was going the wrong way- in fact opposite to the way it was supposed to - it was only after an immediate anger at the stupid thing that I realised I had it on my lap upside down!

I am an old fogey, it's official!

Does anyone else suffer from this syndrome or am I alone in my fogeydom?

ahh wish it were that simple Ive been slogging away at this for years!

Trouble is that as I slowly get to grip with photshop, out comes another version which doesn't do what I expect and now lightroom just has to be used because Bridge can't handle more than a dozen files at atime before slowing to a crawl but LR doesn't do what I expect either so I feel like Im going round in circles and saying to myself 'why do I put up with this c**p?' - it's enough to make you want to go off and take up farming or something !;) :D

Keep at it. Studies have shown that as we grow older & the more active we keep our brains, the less risk for altzheimer's.

Now where did I put my keys? ;)

Maybe you need a faster computer with more memory. Bridge is OK, but it takes a long time to start and you have to let it load and process the thumbnails. But I've opened a folder with close to 500 RAW's in it and it worked fine, after letting it work for a couple minutes first. Still, if I only have a dozen to process, I just open them in CS2 Camera RAW and don't mess with Bridge at all. :)

IF I need a faster computer than a dual G5 2.3 with 6GB Ram then AFAIC its the program not my computer that needs a boost;)

Hmmm, maybe some patience then. Or better yet, think if it like a commercial during a one hour TV show. Get up and hit the fridge? :mregreen:

Patience definitey - of a saint!

I remember when I first started using mac I had to get one to use a medical program (business I was in ) and when I complained to them that things didnt work as advertoised and it was very frustrating the response was ' yeah it sure gets you lik that don't it', which IMO is silicon valley talk for 'yeah we sure screwed you there chum'

I am impatient I'm sure but the levels of patience required for some of the programs some of the time are at unprecedented levels

You do not HAVE to upgrade / change software everytime a new package comes out. If a piece of software does what you want, stck with it. If it does it today, chances are it will keep doing it.

So to add insult to injury, they didn't screw you; you did it to your self.

Seriuosly, you might want to join NAPP. They have an excellent forum & tutorials.
I have learned a lot from some of the free podcasts for Photoshop, including PhotoshopTV (available from iTunes Store - go to podcasts & search for Photoshop).
