A morning roaming the swamps.

Took a stroll through my favorite swampy area and got myself, among others, a couple of Swamp Sparrows (how fitting...).

An American Bittern flew over and landed not to far away. I took a shot then tried to stalk it...unsuccessfully, but at least this is my first "acceptable" photo of one - let's call it a habitat shot, shall we? .

Then, while sitting still, a small furry critter made a brief appearance - a beautiful little Short-Tailed Weasel! It was only around for about three seconds - glad I was able to take at least one shot!

Great series. Personaly I love the Bittern shot.

The sparrows are great Dan - much prettier than ours. The bittern and the weasel - well, what lucky shots - excellent.

Dan , I hate the fact that I had to leave now ,,,, wow I am pretty charged up about the Weasel , what a wonderful little animal , I didn't realize we had them here in our own backyards ,,, awesome series though

Nice shots. The bittern is a good shot because of the elusiveness of the bird. Love the weasel!

Very nice series with the first image of the Swamp Sparrow being my favourite...wish this one was mine. Pose, composition, perch, BG...all works beautifully. The Bittern is nice especially considering its secretiveness and that while we have them in the area for a few months in the Summer, they are not an abundant species here. The weasel deserves his own thread on the nature page...adorable ( but you would not want one as a pet)

You got that weasel in a terrific pose...and the birds are great too. Wonderful shots.
