Thanks for the post.... I've been using a grey card off and on, and am still trying to convince myself that I should trust it (it always works... it just 'feels' like the camera should be smarter, but I know it's not!) I've used it for setting exposure every hour or so (longer if indoors) but I'm not familiar with setting the WB to it. I've seen people talk about setting it to the coffee filters, but I'm intrigued by your setting it to the 18% card and would love more details if you don't mind typing something up right quick!

Thanks!
Adam

Do a search for custom Wb. The top thread covers it. As long as the target is white, gray, etc, it will work. It must be neutral, without a tint is all.

Maybe this is one of those RTFM moments... I'm going to go hit the yard and try some grey card Custom WB shots. I'm assuming I hold it at the same basic angle as when I'm setting exposure and all... thanks for the info

There's one part of information in this thread that'S a little misleading ... shooting RAW can not correct wrong ISO ... always pay very much attention when you crank up the ISO to get it down again!!!

Best regards,
Andy

I'm usually in pretty well lit areas, so I've been shooting ISO100 and haven't had any problems what-so-ever with crisp images. I suppose if I'm shooting indoors, even with flash that I should bump that to 400.

Although I did switch over to 1600 the other day for some night shots and then three days later noticed that everything was abnormally grainy. Oops! Why can't you set something that auto-resets to a specified ISO on startup. That would be handy-dandy!
