I picked my new baby up today, she is resting and getting use to her new home. It is such a site to see. I am warming up her bottles (batteries), I picked up two extras.

I sure like this camera. It feels so good and makes me feel like I am really serious, which I am. I haven't checked all the settings but I sure like the way it feels. Now, I have to get use to the added weight.

I did have a hard time with putting the battery in but that is going to have to be my first learning curve.

I don't profess to be the best photographer but I am taking this seriously. I know once I get the hang of this camera it will not only improve my level of photography but also my belief in myself.

The minute I handled the demo MarkII I was sure I have to have it. At last a camera worth every cent and with all the features I needed. I was lucky I placed my reservation to local pro shop early (in february) - I think I'll get mine next week. If I did not have a reservation I'd get it in September they said :)

I also have Canon 85/1.2L coming on monday so next week sounds quite good to me. If I see I have any money left I may also update my 70-200 to IS version for two reasons: weather sealing and full AF functionality with 1.4X extender. But I'm a bit worried about getting slightly worse image quality in long term (as Castleman suggests.in http://www.wlcastleman.com/equip/reviews/70_200/ (external link) ) -- my current 70-200 is perfect.

Pekka,

I couldn't agree with you more about the camera being worth every penny. I am no way near the level of photography you are and I know how wonderful this camera is. It will take me a long time to master it if at all and it will take me even longer to outgrow it.

I know when you do get it, it will be the right time for the right person. That is next on my list, the 85/1.2 and the 70-200/2.8. I hope I will be done at that time. I did pick up the 180 L Macro recently so that should keep me happy for a while.

It is going to be a wonderful year and a great summer.

Be sure and post the second you get it, don't even open the box let us know first. LOL

I have the best camera, I'm a active member of the best forum and I know some of the best people. What more could I want.

MORE L-glass, that's what!!

Pekka,

What will you be doing with your old 70-200 after buying the IS version?

Pekka, I won't get my Mark II this shipment. Penn Camera out of DC says I was not high enough on the list to get one of the few they got in...
Oh, well....I wait.

I can't wait for RFMSports to receive his and post some new shots. I haven't shot much in the house but I am charging up for tomorrow.

getg3,

LOL..I have tons of stuff from the 10D I don't have time to put up. I wouldn't look to soon. I won't be posting for some time. I am trying to work so the shots I do put up are for clients and they require a password to see. As soon as I get some free time I will make a gallery for everyone to see.

I have some amazing shots with the 10D too.

I picked one up at the local Samys. I couldn't wait for CDW. I shot a series of sports events for the local Air Force base today and really enjoyed it. The 8 FPS is great. I got several segments of the batters swinging at pitches and a couple pretty good shots of folks playing volleyball.

Tomorrow will be my first day with it doing surf shots. I'm getting anxious already. It will also be the first day for testing the 300 F2.8 with the 2X extender on it. I'll post some shots after I get back.

Scott:

You're a hero. You paid almost $400 extra just to get it without waiting (I'm assuming you paid CA sales tax). I'm sure I would have done the same thing if I'd only known...

I'm really getting a little steamed with CDW. I can't get any information from them beyond what they told me a couple months ago. They don't respond to my email inquiries either. (I don't entirely blame them for that...I can be a real pain in the neck.)

This is one of those cases where no news is just that.....no news, and I'm tired of it. I ordered one from B&H today. Actually, I prepaid, and they're telling me 2-3 weeks. If I lived closer to the greater metropolitan Los Angeles area, I could jump in the car and attack the problem directly. Unfortunately, that would be a 5-hour round trip, and that just makes my disposition even worse.

Anyway, at least I'm pretty clear on where I stand with B&H. Two to three weeks. If they mean it (and they've never lied to me yet), I can live with that. If CDW shows up with one in the meantime, I'll probably buy it just on general principals. Then I'll have to sell one.

Maybe I won't.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

Ordered mine too long ago to remember, didnt get into Park Cameras first delivery but promissed in 3 weeks, and given that was 1 week ago only two weeks to go, only two weeks to go, only two weeks to go, nope that still sounds like a long time :(

Belmondo...

I figure my time is worth $75-$100 an hour. So its only a few hours worth of dealing with BS and the cost would have been the same. Atleast thats how I rationalize it...... I'm somewhat tired of dealing with jerks, delays and rude people to save a few bucks.
