Anyway I am just learning how to use it but I quickly found out you get a big shadow using the integrated flash, was not even thinking about that when I bought it. I assume this is normal, I even get it when the hood is off. Anyway I blew my photo gear budget buying this lens and I do not have an accessory flash yet, any suggestions for indoor shots as the lens still seems to need a good amount of light for high enough shutter speeds. I tried auto ISO and it's going up to 3200 for a 1/100th w/o any flash when shooting at 3.5 indoors. -- Eric --

Also to me the front element looks vulnerable, I feel like I should put a thin UV filter on it for protection when shooting outdoors is the filter ring going to show in the corners? Thanks! Yes, it is normal to have a shadow from the pop-up flash. A hot-shoe flash fixes that issue. 1Dx | 5D III | 1D IV | 8-15 | 16-35L II | 24-70L II | 70-200L II | 400L II | 1.4x III | Σ85 | 100L | 3 x 600EX-RT | ST-E3-RT
