This is such a fantastic picture! Very sharp and lots of details. I viewed the original size on flickr. If you look very very closely, the right side of the picture seems just a bit softer than the left side, especially the statue thing (I don't know how to call it). Is this something that bothers you? Or, since this lens is so wide this is the limitation of this lens? I am curious because my copy does that too...

Thanks to everyone!

As for the softness, I think the technical review sites (Photozone and the like) show this lens drops off in sharpness quite a bit in the extreme corners. I don't find it an issue at all, because the lens is so wide that whatever is in the corners is already very distorted anyway.

In this case, I cropped a pretty big chunk off the left side of the frame to achieve symmetry so this wouldn't be a good image to judge left to right sharpness...

Just bought this lens from another forum member on Friday, it should be at my office on Monday. I've never been so excited to get back to work! LOL.

Thanks for spending my money again for me POTN. :)

Congrats! I'm sure you'll be very focused on your lens, I mean work...

Works quite well on 1DmkIII :)
Did you correct distortions?

No corrections on that shot. I usually shoot with a level horizon with the 10-22mm to keep the distortions to a minimum.

Thanks, it came in today, incredible how wide it is, I would look through and see more than I could out of my own eyes and it kind of stunned me. You see the pictures on here but don't really get the idea how wide it is until you look through the viewfinder for the first time. Its crazy! Looking forward to finding some time to shoot landscapes and buildings in the future.

Does anyone else feel the need to own a set of Lee filters as soon as they get this lens?

Trunk or Treat event. My father-in-law's 56 Bel Air took best in show pre-64. Lots of cool cars there...

Great Shot Johan! I was wondering if you are using any filters to get these shots? I just got my 10-22 and have visions of using it for landscape when I go to aruba next year. Any suggestions or hints for a newb at landscape long exposure.

You got a great lens!

You don't need expensive gear to get a shot like this.

I used a $15 3 stop ND grad filter, hand held over the lens. No tripod for this shot either, as I needed to get the camera right off the ground. You can see a little purple color casting from the filter, but it works for sunsets and sunrises.

It doesn't matter if you have $90,000 in gear, if the location sucks, the photos suck. Any camera can capture the essence of a great scene.

Thanks, impulse buy mainly because of awesome daylight long exposure shots like yours. I'm concerned that i won't be steady enough to hold the filter steady for long enough, was considering getting the conkin x-pro filter system basically for this lens, it would probably be at least a 200 dollar investment for the filters and the holder. Seems like a lot but I think that it will make all the difference in the long run. Do you find it difficult to hold the filter in front of the lens steady long enough to not hinder the IQ of the pics you are taking?

Thanks for all the insight! - Jim
