would anyone trade/sell their 10-22mm for a 16-35mm?
im wanting the constant 2.8 compared to our 3.5-4.5 which i hate in all honesty.

The 10-22 would not normally give that amount of flare, even with the sun in the scene. Nop, no filter at all Canon EOS 60D / 10-22 / 50 1.4

F/2.8 is not often required in UWAs; why do you feel you hate f/3.5-4.5 at these focal lengths? i mainly take pictures of people indoors with it. i never use my 18-55. i dont like it. so i use my 10-22 @10mm for automotive stuff or just scenery and @22mm for people sitting next to me in the car or across a restaurant table. i dont like it because if i switch from 10mm to 22mm the pictures always get darker especially in low light areas like a restaurant or inside a car after dark. Mine's given that type of flare twice since I've had it, its quite unpredictable and very uncommon at least for mine, but really annoying when it does happen because you expect it to be performing as per usual, but instead end up with lots of flare spots. -Tom
