However, it's a bit difficult to judge whether the first one - which looks very nice - really captured the exact lighting of the event (which was the aim), without having been there.
Well, you were there, so you can judge it.
Just judging from the effect of the photo, it looks like a low light event to me, so I'd rather have some extra f stop available (or a tripod).
