I was watching a family of Sanhill Cranes, when one of the parents walked over to the water's edge and extended it's neck over the water and took a long look. The crane then went over to the chick and other parent and they abrubtly left the area. At first I thought they noticed me  , but when I viewed this on my monitor, i was able to see the REAL reason for the hasty departure.

Very good shot Keith.....I suppose where there are small alligators, there are larger ones close by. I think I would be looking for another vantage point from which to shoot :D

Excellent shot Keith. Now if that were a GBH, he might have snapped the gater up. :)

Lol, that would have been interesting to watch :)

Great shot, Keith! I think I'd better stick to the local swimming pool.

I did notice quite a few gators in the lake while I was shooting these guys the last few days. I did shoot a few standing near the water's edge while keeping a watchful eye out for them.

Mitch
I believe this was the prize (small chick) the gator was looking for. I am sure he could handle the little fella. Funny thing, when they cross the lake, mom and pop fly, the little guys has to walk/swim across :( to the nest which is surrounded by water.
