Forgive us for posting so many Spruce Grouse shots this past week...it's just that we didn't drive 3.5 hours to photograph it and then just make it come and go in a flash!
First shot taken in typical conditions we had in the forest - very dark and shady. The second taken during a rare time when it walk through a sunny patch. It actually stayed in that sunny spot for a few minutes drinking out of a small puddle of water on the mossy floor. Taking a shot of it actually drinking was near impossible as the lower half of its body, and the whole puddle, was obstructed by many twigs therefore I opted for a portrait.
