Reinstalling Adobe Lightroom

I recently had to format my hard drive and upon reinstalling LR it would no longer unlocked the application using the supplied RawShooter Premium serial key provided by Adobe. Took an act of congress almost to get them to reissue another one _ _ Now I am fixing to build a new computer soon and my thinking is they aren't going to reissue yet another serial.

Anyone else ran in to this issue with Adobe?

If you know this switch in advance you should be able to transfer your activation and then reinstall on your new system... Good luck

Sounds like a good time to explore some backup solutions to create an image of your hard drive. Get it setup the way you want, create an image, and if you need to format your drive again you can restore that image and should not have to call Adobe for a new license. I just picked up Acronis True Image 10 last week for $26.99 at Newegg. It is an excellent program that I should have bought long ago.

This doesn't work with adobe or MS activation, as the activation hash is keyed to your hardware.

I knew that about MS but not Adobe. With MS there is a workaround using your installation CD, but not sure about Adobe. Never had to do that. Sorry OP!

Ya, it was ther case with cs2 so i am assuming it is with CS3 as well, but you know what they say about assuming...

Thanks for the input guys. Worse case I'll just be persistent again and too hope my OEM copy of XP will activate on a new hardware setup. MS has been pretty good with this in the past.
