Going on a little trip by air and I want to take my tripod. It weights about 10lbs. Do you thing i'll have a problem if I pack it in one of my check-in bags? The camera bag goes with me.

No problem, except that some airlines are starting to charge for second/third checked bag.
I haul mine in a Hakuba padded tripod bag, checked as luggage.
I never leave home without one.

It's a Slik. Not top of the line but close. I learned a long time ago, you don't put $2500.00 worth of camera equipment on a $200.00 tripod.
