Great series. I have to get to where these owls are to get some shots. I've heard talk that they maybe around the area I live in, but have never seen them. Reyno or Mike, you ever seen any or heard about them in the central area of Florida?
Thanks Don. I do beleive there have beem some spotted up in central FL, I just can't be sure. They seem to move on during the rainy season. I don't know where, but I see less of them that ime of year.
Fantastic!! Well done, Keith, and congrats on 3000. Looks like they have to grow into their beaks.
I noticed the same thing when I look at them. The beaks and head seem rather large for the size of those little bodies. Thanks for comments Joe.
[QUOTE=Keith R;3136725]Just looked again - anyone else notice the sand "rooster" the little one is kicking up in no. 4?
He's having a tantrum, I reckon!
[/quoteKeith, the little guy was rather small. The sand was being kicked out of the burrow by another small owl. The funny thing is, when there is one in the hole kick up sand, it will land in the faces of any of them around the entrance. Thanks for the comments!]
Keith those are spectacular shots . The timing and poses are perfect . Someday I am going to fly down there and follow you around so I can try and get some shots like these. Very well done.
Sure thin Chris! Just make sure it is between November and April, otherwise it's brytal down here with the heat! Thanks for commenting!
Are these the owls in the book Hoot ?
They are so very cute and beautifully captured.
Yes the Burrowing Owls were the species from the Movie/Book "Hoot" It was actually shot around here on Boca Grand Island.
A big thanks to all of you for taking the time to look and comment. This place is a fantastic place to see species that I would otherwise not see. It is also a great place to learn. Many thanks again!
