Which camera is the more current one? This is probably one of the dumbest questions you have ever heard here, and I appologize, lol. I was planning to get the 30D for shooting concerts, and I saw some GREAT photos with the 400D.

The 400D is the newest camera but not as well built as the 30D. The 400D has a bigger megapixle count in the same sensor size. Go handle the cameras and buy the one that feels the best for you. If you are thinking about 30D+kit lens, it will not be any where close to what 400D+a better lens (so that total cost is the same) will produce.
