Used but in very good condition starts around $950. Some times you find them in the $900 or lower. These suckers don't drop value very much. That said, I got mine for $850 used.

assuming they are both the F2.8 version, no there would be no difference.

IF it's the 2.8 IS version, yes. But, as in anything used there is always a chance that the condition isn't what you expect.

With the new lens, you'll get the peace of mind that if anything happens you have the warranty to cover.

Used lenses are a great way to save money and if you're comfortable and trust the seller that lens is in great condition, then there's no reason not to go for it if the price is right :)

you dont understand. there is an F4 and a F2.8, both with IS. for the 2.8, it would be a decent deal, for the F4 it wouldnt be so great.

Personally, I would, but I'm very particular about lenses. I know a lot of people on here buy and sell lenses and I've been tempted to do so but people on here are proud of their lenses and want near retail for them. (not retail but what B&H sells them for)
$200.00 less than BH would be tempting but I would have to be very comfortable with the seller.
$1400.00 is $300.00 less that BH! Where did you see it at $1600.00?

Wise decision!!

That's a great price with the code!!! I would love one of them but probably will go with the f/4 IS but that 2.8 is really sweet!

Huh? There is no 24-70 2.8 IS. Not from Canon, at least.

about 700 EUR / 800 US$ is a right price for a well-handled second hand 24-70 2.8 L.
