I was looking for Baltimore Orioles but got the Indigo instead. This guy landed on a brush pile about 10 feet away. This was taken about 45 minutes before sunset. Will try to get out there earlier in the days to come. Canon 30D Canon 300mm with 2x TC 1/250 sec, f/8 Mode: Manual ISO: 400 Flash exp comp: -1 Duane

How did you get the black background? Was that natural (or, heaven forbid! photoshopped?) Whatever, it's an incredible shot. Very nice! "Slower minds keep right..."

It was late in the evening, about 7:30pm, the BG is the edge of the treeline about 50 feet away. The fill flash made it look darker than it was. The overall image is a little dark, but I knew that going in. I could have boosted levels but that would induce more noise, I was already at ISO 400. Duane

canonloader Cream of the Crop More info | May 02, 2007 09:43 | #13 This is a sweet shot. A fair trade for an Oriole. I've been looking for Orioles here too, since there are all kinds of old nests hanging around, but haven't seen one yet. Mitch- ____...^.^...____
