I posted some shots of an indigo bunting a couple of days ago, and just had a visit from a much smaller version of the same bird, I believe. It had a much less distinctive black eye mask. Let me know if I've misnamed another species...

Nice closeups! Can't help with the ID though...wish I could see one of these around my feeders!

He sure is a cutie, whatever it is. Is this near your feeder, or out in the woods?

I have several feeders hanging from a maple tree in our backyard, and this little guy was in the tree. I've not found them in the woods, yet.

Sweet. I really like the mix of of colours in these. They compliment each other nicely. I think they are one of the prettiest birds. I wish they would come a little further to the north.

Until a few days ago I had never seen one of this species. Now, I've got close to six or seven of them at any given time at my feeders during the day. You can't believe how deep this shade of blue is compared to the rest of the bird world around here. Every time one lands near my window I'm grabbing for the camera...

Nice shots. I think Indigo Buntings are more open area birds.
I have several (up to 19 maybe) arround my house. I live in the woods but I see most of them just down the road(1/4 mile) in the pastures and in the tall grass beside the road. Nice captures once again.

Thanks, David. I'm intrigued by this species at the moment, I suppose because it's a new one to me. They arrived only a few days after my first rose-breasted grosbeaks hit the feeders and I was just stunned by the deep blue coloration. Can't stop taking pictures of them... someone help! Call me away or something!
