Well i'm really hooked on this birding thing for sure. Went out today and captured these.
This juvenile Grey Heron was enjoying himself doing the hokey cokey on a log.

Another juvenile shaking off a few feathers

He then decided to stretch his wings.

An Avocet which is very rare in this area. Last year a pair hatched two chicks in the wild area of the WWT, and this is the most northernly hatch ever recorded in the UK. Lets hope they hang around and do the same again this year. Hopefully I will get a closer shot next time.

Good stuff, Kevin,

I do believe that last one is a little ringed plover - not a common bird.

Very nice shots Kevin. Were those herons on their own? No adults around?

Thanks Keith :D , I was talking to a gentleman last week who mentioned something about seeing the Plovers and he seemed quite pleased, so that must be why.

Thanks Canonloader. The Herons were not alone, the parents were pretty close by. There is a colony of 40+ birds in the vicinity and there are many young still in their nests. It was fun to watch the young ones as they were very mischievous. :D
