It finally arrived!!!! The Brick is here!!!!. Man its a beaut.
First thoughts:
Why everyone made a (small) ordeal about weight is beyond me. Sure it weighs more than any other lens Ive owned but not to the point where It blows my mind. Actually I expected it to weigh more and once I picked it up and held it, I didnt even give it a second though until now.
The shots are incredibly sharp and has such beautiful saturation and contrast.
The zoom ring is on the backend of the lens. Not a big deal...its a L for cryin out loud:p
The hood is monsterous but I dont mind it, if I want candids I'll reverse it, if I want to part a sea of people Ill pop it on.:D

All this I have read and known about, just felt like repeating it.
:D:D:D:D:D:D

Now come, share in my excitement! We shall drink milk, dine on grapes and DANCE!!!

Sorry I dont shoot ducks,lol.

Isn't the zoom ring on the rear of all zoom lenses?

Enjoy :)

I just got this lens not too long ago also. Hard to zoom when you have the hood reversed. Also, getting this to replace the sigma 17-70, I wish it focused a bit closer. Other than that, I have been blown away by the sharpness of this lens.

Congrats man! Mine has made a fantastic Landscape/candid/walkaround lens in the short time that I've had it!

I also didn't find the weight overwhelming! After all the fuss that I had read I was expecting it to be quite a bit heavier!

Congrats. As you already know, you're going to love it. Like you, the weight is a non-issue, and helps me keep it steady. Great compliment to 70-200 also.

Canon 6D gripped, Canon 50D gripped, Canon 24-70 F/2.8 L, Canon 50 F1.4, Canon 70-200 F/4 L IS, and the list goes on!
