Now what? How to get RAW image to open

I am trying to ease my way into shooting RAW, based largely on stuff I have read here, but am at a complete loss as to what to do next. I shot an image in RAW, downloaded off the memory card, and have tried opening in Digital Photo Professional (version 2.0) and nothing happens. I get a black window, with the word RAW in the lower left corner. What am I not doing properly? Is there a topic that has covered this in the past? I want to try the Picture Styles stuff, but can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does the DPP2.0 specs say it supports RAW from 10D? If not, try RawShooterEssential or adobe camera raw.

Where would I find that information? There seems to be no Help or instructions to click on.

Are you able to double-click on the raw file, when it ask you what program you would like to use for the file, you can select DPP?
If not, try right-click on a raw file, select "Open With ..." then choose DPP from the list.
