Microsoft Vista Issues on New Laptop

I am patiently waiting for my new Dell 1705 to show up from the UPS man (and boy, I am excited!) This new laptop is arriving with Microsoft Vista and from reading the other threads it sounds like I could have trouble with Adobe Photo Elements 4.0 on this new computer.

Can anyone advice me on any other Vista or Elements issues they may have encountered or for me to be cautious of? How about Canon's Digital Photo Professional? Plug-Ins for Elements?

Thanks in advance.

Canon has released DPP 3.01 for Vista and it seems to work fine on my Dell XPS M1710 running Vista Ultimate 32 bit. I haven't stress tested DPP with Vista as Lightroom is now my tool of choice for editing, but certainly DPP works. However, strangely, the Trim tool and Quick review tools are greyed out when running with Vista. I have no idea what that's about but it is mentioned on the Canon DPP download web page..

I also have a new m1710. Vista Ultimate. I'm running CS3, Lightroom. No issues. As far as elements goes, I have no input. Why am I posting?

Get Lightroom. Buy from Dell with confidence.

so cs3 doesn't give u any problems with vista? How about using zoom browser ex to download your photos... any problems with that? It seems like i read on another thread that someone was having problems with that ???

No problems.

CS3 doesn't like my 27 11.1mp images for panos. Neither do my other programs. My 1Ds can't be accessed via firewire. Umm.. that's about it.

Both DPP, and Lightroom work perfect on my laptop with Vista. I do not have the greyed out option problem with DPP, and I have not updated it either. Drew the right straw I guess.

Canon 6D gripped, Canon 50D gripped, Canon 24-70 F/2.8 L, Canon 50 F1.4, Canon 70-200 F/4 L IS, and the list goes on!

If you are installing a old version of a software, turn the compatibility mode to Windows XP or something. CS2 and CS3 works great on my HP and sony laptops.
