Caught this little guy on one of my "pre-planned perches" near the feeders. I'm never certain if I'm looking at a purple finch or a house finch, though. Corrections on the species are welcome.

village idiot .....An excellent shot of a commonly seen bird. It's really amazing just how pretty that little guy is. We see them all the time, yet it takes a picture like yours to make me realize just how pretty a bird the House Finch (Purple Finch) really is. Based on the shape of the bill, my vote goes to House Finch.....the Purple Finch has a more triangular shaped bill....but I'm just guessing.

Nice shots. I love the detail, and the bokeh. We have house finches regularly, so I'm guessing this is a purple finch.
