Is it worth buying a refurb camera for a place like Adorama or Broadway Photo?

Thanks.

If the price is right, I don't see why not. I just bought what I thought was a used 20D from B&H for $700. Turns out it was a factory refurb. Camera is new. Only 90 day warranty, but I figure that with most electronics if they work straight out of the box, chances are you won't have any problems down the road.

I bought a referb 20d from Adorama last june, it came in great condition(though who ever owned it before was a smoker). I think it may have had a 90 day warranty, but when the shutter died las month(I put about 70K shots on it) Canon took it and replaced the shutter for free.

yes to Adorama and BH, but not Broadway Photo, not even for a new camera. They are scams, http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Broadway_Photo (external link).

Could not agree more. Offers a refurb unit for a cheap price and when you try to buy it, then claims that the instructions for that model is in Japanese. Offers a more expensive refurb unit instead.
Bought from Adorama instead.

Bought my 1DMkII from Adorama. It just celebrated its second birthday and has right at 250K frames on it. I would buy one again in a heartbeat.

I would do it again.

My first 1D had a banding problem, but I sent it back, full refund, no worries.

But I have an Epson P2200 that is flawless.
