Replacement neckstrap for 10D

Anybody know if Canon got any good, or more correctly, not as friggin painfull neckstraps? I lurked my 10D around with my 70-200mm a couple of days, and the weight my neck was supporting nearly killed it. I got severe "insert correct word here" in my neck. Don't know the correct English word, but I'm meaning the thing you usually get on your heels when walking/dancing in a wrong (or stiff) pair of shoes. There got to be straps more comfertable for heavy equipment? I would prefer if it stood Canon on it. If it lacked Digital it would actually be even greater, but I will not tolerate a strap which says NIK*N, although the D2H-strap was very good

Is theese kind of things stocked at photo-dealers? Or do you know a website having a collection, and preferable got a good recommandation for a nice model?

I got a $20 Optech strap - plain black, though, no lettering. It is wonderful - night and day compared to the Canon. Others have have mentioned like the Optech Pro strap but I didn't like it when I saw it. It does have a better shape for wrapping around the neck and may place some of the weight on the shoulders.

I recommend a strap which has a bit of stretch to it. It eases the pain when the camera moves or bounces.

I NEVER use the Canon brand neck straps, they all stay like new and never unwrapped. I usually will pick up an aftermarket strap by Tamron or someone who knows how to pad them correctly. One strap in particular is made by a company named "DLC", and has a stretchy heavy neoprene type of padding that is very comfortable with a heavy camera/lens combo hanging from it. My best advice to you is go to your dealer and have a look around.

When i got my D30 I noticed the deficiency in comfort riight away.

I swapped it for thre strap on my A2E. Ahhh, much better!

As noted previously, check out the rack at the camers shop and pick a comfy one.

Ironically, that's about the only reason I visit the local Wolf Camera here. Well, that, and they do great enlargements.

Actually, IanD got me started on OpTech straps, and they're very comfortable, even with large lenses on the camera. Interestingly, they refer to their straps as a 'weight reduction system', so I bought two of them. Sadly, I still weighed the same, but when the Mk II arrives, I'll have another strap all ready for it.

I vote for the Optech Strap also. My neck was killing me with the Canon strap while lugging around my 10D with a 100-400L lens mounted during sports shoots. I got the Optech strap... pain is gone! ! ! It truely was night & day. I can lug the camera around all day now... no problem!

Don't you love advertising? Remember those Certs commercials from years ago? Pop one in your mouth and the pretty girl kisses you? Sucked me in for a case of Spearmint....

Guess I'd better pay my respects with some gratitude to Op/Tech too. Neck & wrist straps, snoot boots & hood hats. Good stuff. Only complaint I have is I don't like wearing advertising labels, and the big USA in the OP/TECH USA logo hangin 'round your neck often gets you disapproving glances, and could get you shot in some places.

Like Tom, no physical reduction in personal weight, but make the camera a lot more comfortable.

Another vote for the Optech pro straps. Also 7dayshop.com do a cheap neoprene strap which is somewhere between the Canon strap and the Optech - not as padded but still much more comfortable than the Canon 'steal me' straps.

Not sure it makes the 10D and 100-400 feel 50% lighter but it is a lot more comfortable than the Canon neck-razor strap.

If they are long enough to do rope jumping with them, it might really work

However, there might be preferrable alternatives for that.
