5D image size settings and film making?

Does anyone have an approximation of what the L, M and S settings equate to from the jpegs off a 5D? A bit of quick Googling revealed a lot of mumbo jumbo. I'm gonna use the images to put into a stop motion film I think, usually using 720 x 576 pixel files at 300 or 400 dpi. The higher res files seem to accept effects better in Premiere and Final Cut somehow...

Will be taking possibly a few thousand photos and am trying to figure out if I can get the images on cards as opposed to a mate's borrowed laptop with not a lot of free space on the HDD for me to abuse. Obviously if I can use the 'S' setting and I use a 4Gb or 8Gb card I should get a LOT of images on there...

Is this what you need? This is from the 5D manual.
Small (normal) - 1 mb
Small (fine) - 2 mb
Pixels for Small setting = 2496 x 1664
Med (normal) - 1.4 mb
Med (fine) - 2.7 mb
Pixels for Medium setting = 3186 x 2112
Large (normal) - 2.3 mb
Large (fine) -4.6 mb
Pixels for Large settng = 4386 x 2912

Accordingly it states a 512 mb card can record 101 shots in Large (fine) setting or 196 shots in Large (normal).

Yeah I was looking at that, but I thought I saw someone on here a few weeks ago (new MkIII I think) post a chart for that camera stating the S setting was equivalent to 3Mp say etc etc...

Though that said if I can get my head round the maths (given that 720x576 isn't the full extent of a photographic image because of the aspect ratio) and the resolution, I guess having the actual pixel sizes is better. I keep losing the plot when I try and convert those numbers into meaningful figures for me.

Page 50 of your 5D manual gives pixel dimensions and MP counts for the various sizes. Large is 12.7 MP, Medium is 6.7 MP and S is 4.2 MP.

So all you need is 720x576 images? that is very small and a 5D would be serious overkill. Also stating 720x576 pixels has nothing to do with dpi. dpi is for printing purposes because pixels are always pixels. I would suggest a used Drebel unless you need to do a lot of manual focusing.

Fine Small, would give you more than enough resolution for video. Shoot one, take into the computer and get the size from the file info.

What point is there to a 5D if your going to shoot at Fine small?

I shoot stills for video, and trust me, you want to shoot at a higher resolution than what your final product will be.

It will give you higher quality, and let you move or crop around the frame without losing quality.

That's for the 1D III. No other existing camera uses sRAW.

Because suprisingly enough I didn't buy the camera solely for shooting stills for video. This is one project I'm gonna be doing soon, and I've not done anything like it before with this camera and was asking for advice.
