NiL,

Really nice shots :) But I just hate you guys thinking everything is up to the camera! It's not! What really matters... is the size of the lens ;) *happy shooting =D*

I would like to think it is BOTH!! You can't get shots without the camera and you can get shots without the photographer either.

Both are needed. The camera is a instrument, like a pen or paintbrush, the artist is the one that actually directs the pen or brush.

After having both cameras, I know the MKII is all I want in a camera. I really love this camera!!!

NiL,

Easy on the trigger there, I was only making a joke :) I also know I would ... go far, to get a MKII myself =D If you like, you can send it to me, and I can try to fix your LCD-screen ;) Estimate the repair to take 1-3 months though  But be carefull saying it got all you want, cause we still haven't seen the plans for the 1D MK-III or the 1Ds MK-II =D

Happy for you having this camera, it must be a real thrill :) I once found a N*KON D2H "floating around" the house, and the feeling of 8fps is simply undescribeable, so I guess 8.5 will be orgasmic

Thank

The shots were taken at the Botanical Garden in Brooklyn , NY. This heron parked hiself at the Gold Fish day and had a massive meal. He ate 5 before I left. He was very hungry.

The shots aren't as clear or sharp as I would like but I got something. Next time, I will do better.

Nice pictorial series, Frederique.

Tell me, based on the size of the goldfish, the night heron doesn't seem large at all, which surprised me. Was it really small or was that a big goldfish he was feasting on?

:)

Do Herons really like to eat Gold Fish or is that some kind of fraternity hazing?
Inquiring minds need to know,

LOL...I don't know Scott, should I have them email you the answer. Perhaps, goldfish are snack food to them.

Conk,
Thank you, I am sorry I seemed to miss your post.

PacAce,

The heron was a good size, he wasn't big but I have never been that close to one. The ones I have seen didn't seem bigger to me.

Here he is standing up tall and proud. He was a monster. He picked on the mid size fish, the small ones were too small and the big ones were way too big.

I try and go there every weekend and he comes there for lunch so I will try and get some more with the MKII.

NiL,
That looks like a Black-crowned Night-Heron. It is known to be "a rather squat heron" with a length of 26" and wingspan 45". The Great Blue Heron is the "big gun" at 48" long and wingspan of 72".
