While waiting for the Sandhill Crane Family to do their morning walk-by, I notice this Great Blue Heron fishing off in the distance. He slowly made his way over to me after about twenty minutes. This was the only shot I was able to get of him. After the first click of the 20D's noisey shutter, he took flight. The Sandhills took an alternate route behind my hiding spot, so nothing from them today . Slowwww morning.

Nothing like early morning light to cast a nice glow on the subject.

It's a classic pose Keith, and the light and water are great. Too bad about the sandhills. I have yet to see any close up here.

I'd love to get one half that good, Keith. Been hunting the GBH all spring. Well done.

Isn't that a tri-colored heron?
Just wondering.

Great shot either way!

Fantastic shot, I love your cranes series as well. Getting good bird shots is so rewarding...and challenging too :)
