of the non-baseball variety! They were swooping all over the back yard this morning - hopefully some will stay and sit a spell.

Congrats on the find Nancy. It's always exciting the first time you add a new one to the list. I have yet to see one. Very pretty little guy. :)

Very nice Nancy. Did they just show up all of a sudden? I've been looking for them here. :)

yes, all of a sudden - there were about four of them that I could see - doing arial acrobatics, around ten this morning. In the side yard, which doesn't usually present a lot of variety!
It must be the migration coming through - so far this week, I've seen ruby-throated hummingbirds, the orioles, the rose-breasted grosbeak and a fleeting glimpse of what might have been an indigo bunting.
I sure hope they aren't just passing through.

Meanwhile, the bluejays seemed to have moved in for the duration, and a noisy crowd they are!

Well, I'll be looking for them. I see last years nests all over in parks and the wetlands, so I know they are here, just not yet. :)

My bluejays have all left for the woods and nesting season I guess. I had 3 or 4 downys all winter, and just saw one of them today for the first time in weeks. I had 4 pairs of Cardinals all winter and now one pair comes once a day for seeds. But the little guys are all here ready to entertain, and they've brought the finches in with them. :D
