Er, I have to change my first ID and agree with Peat, it does look like a Male, I was looking for Red but it's still in it's winter plumage, the female is greyer than this and does not have the chesnut colouring on the wings :oops: :oops: :oops:

Ahh, winter plumage!! My wife and I were looking for the red to identify it as a Linnet (we're new to Twitching, its the most addictive hobby ever, apart from visiting this forum and my camera of course :)). We've seen Linnets with red at Pulborough Brooks RSPB reserve.
