just came across this myself and was checking to see if it had been mentioned here. if it didn't require a rebate, I'd be all over it

Suit yourself, but I've submitted paperwork for several previous Sandisk rebates, and in every case the check eventually showed up in my mailbox. Never had to contact the rebate people to clear up any problems, either.

So yeah, it's always nicer to get the low price without having to submit a rebate form, but it's not like I'd be too worried about getting shafted on this rebate.

BTW, the real deal here is arguably the Sandisk 16 GB Extreme III CF card for only $104.95, after rebate. Heck, at that price one could just about justify treating it like a 2 GB card, if one suffers from extreme "putting all my eggs in one basket" nervousness syndrome. But the extra capacity would still be there, should a situation arise where the extra gigs are really needed.

Thanks for the link.

Guess you can't go nuts on it...one rebate per item, per person and per household... So I don't feel bad about ordering 2 4GB cards from B&H on 4/29.
Guess I'll get another 1 now with a rebate so I will feel better about it.

BTW, downloaded the rebate form and it makes no mention of where the item must be purchased from (Adorama etc), so I'm wondering if this will be available elswhere as well???

ERR maybe not???

That's a good thread at corporate. If Circuit City, Best Buy or CompUSA don't offer it this Sunday, I'm ordering a 4GB and 2GB, or have my wife order a duplicate and have it sent to work. Maybe return your cards or one card?

I just ordered one of the 4GB III cards from Adorama...the price for 1 card with shipping is still lower than B&H price...and B&H has no mention of a rebate available.
Tom

edit: 5/5/07 - B&H now shows rebate available as well.
edit: 5/7/07 - B&H has now jacked up their price by $15.00 to $86.95....classy

It's not $60.00 off, it's $80.00 off! $60.00 is the final price.

Well, I've pulled the trigger on this one.

Thought about waiting until tomorrow, to see if Circuit City/Best Buy/CompUSA/etc. might be running some major sales on the 8 GB Extreme III, but honestly, it's just not likely on an 8 GB card. On a smaller capacity CF card, maybe. But not on the 8GB. And there's always a possibility that by tomorrow, Adorama will have jacked up the price of the card, or be out of stock due to the number of orders placed.

I chose the 8 GB size, instead of the 16 GB, because it seems formatting a 16 gig card in some cameras (including one I own - a 350D) is problematic. 8 GB shouldn't cause me problems in any of my cameras, however.

I didn't bother trying to "sweeten" this deal by purchasing from Adorama via shop.com and using a $10 Off coupon, or anything like that. The final price wouldn't have been all that much better than what I paid, and the more layers of complexity added to a purchase, the more likely shipping will be delayed for a month, or approval for the rebate will at least initially be denied, or somesuch. Although I considered buying from buydig.com, again the price savings would've been minor, there's always the chance that the rebate will be honored only for purchases made from Adorama, and buydig's website seems to be down at this time in any case. So I just kept things simple, and bought from Adorama.

I did use the link to the product at Adorama which shows a price of $119.95 (before rebate), which is http://www.adorama.com/IDSCF8GE3.html?emailprice=t (external link) Simply going to Adorama and searching for the card results in finding a price of $129.95 (before rebate). Yes, they're the same SKU number, the same Manuacturer's Part number, the same everything.

If anyone's interested, this deal is also being followed in the Hot Deals forum at FatWallet.com. The link to the thread is http://www.fatwallet.com …ht_key=y&keyword1=extreme (external link)

So when all is said and done, I got myself a Sandisk Extreme III, 8GB, for just under $60 (after rebate, and not counting the $6.95 shipping charge - although at least there's no sales tax tacked onto this order). Can't complain too much about that.

Yeah, yeah, at some time in the future, even faster cards, of even greater capacity, will sell at even lower cost. Two and a half years ago, I paid $165 each for 2GB Sandisk Ultra II CF cards, and it was a good price. Two and a half years from now, maybe I'll be able to buy 64GB Sandisk Super-Extreme VII CF cards for $19.95 each. But for right now, mid-2007, an 8GB Extreme III card for 60 bucks is a very sweet deal.
