Owl at VA Hospital

Mama owl set up living quarters just outside my wife's office at the Sheridan (WY) VA Hospital. There are at least two young in the nest but the light and angle didn't allow me to get a good shot of them. I've always been content in the past to call this an 'owl'. Checking bird id links, I'll take a guess at a great horned owl.

Nice catch Dan. It does look like a Great Horned Owl. With any luck, you can get some shots of the nest and young, especially when they get old enough to walk the limbs.

I also work at a VA, and they will not allow anyone with cameras on the property. I asked as there are woods on the grounds that go down to a river, lots of big trees, etc.

I've had the pleasure of shooting some events at a local V.A. with there blessing. What I do Karen is work the PAO who gets to approve or disapprove any photos I would like to use.

Nice shot of the GHO, I would sure like to come across one.

I'm sure you could get clearance to shoot when they have the 5K races or such, but just to walk around with a camera, I was told by two people that wasn't permitted. I think I will do as you suggested, though, and ask the PR person on campus.
