Very nice Joe. You guys up there seem to have all the owls. I can't believe all the owls I haven't seen down here. They use to be fairly common, but I've seen a total of one owl here in the last year.

Thanks Mitch for your comments.
There are owls here but you have to look for them. A friend pointed out this owl for me or I don't think I would have found it.
Regards,
Joe

Nice capture of the GHO. Talons match the stare:)

Is this at Mud Lake and if so how high up was it? I have seen both male and female there several times this year but they are so far up in the Pines it hasn't prompted me to bother. I am told there is a nest but I have not seen it. Last year there were crowds of people watching the 2 Owlets...pretty quiete this year...so far.

Gary Fairhead C/C welcome .....

Thanks Gary, it was taken at Mud Lake, it was high in the pine tree. We were looking for the owl when we heard a bunch of crows making a lot of noise. The person I was with, said they are likely harassing an owl. Sure enough, we went over and found an owl in the top of the tree with her back to us. We waited a long time, maybe a half hour or more for her to turn around and face us so we could get a shot. There looks to be signs of a nest in the tree. This was my first visit to Mud Lake and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Got quite a few good shots of the owl, GBH and a few other birds, seemed like a lot going on when we were there on Friday.
Regards,
Joe
