Dear Forum,

Quick question:
After I finish uploading my pics from 30D to a Mac with OS X 10.4.8 using a USB cable, what is the recommended way to unplug the camera from the mac?

The manual does not cover this issue. I suppose you "Quit" the EOS Utility program first and then turn off the camera; and finally unplug the USB cord. Now, the issue is that the camera's LCD screen flashes "busy" after you quit the EOS Utility. Is it okay to turn off the camera while it is in the "busy" mode? It seems like the "busy" mode does not terminate by itself.

Thanks,
Ryoichi

simple, buy a card reader and plug it into your computer. faster, easier and does not involve you plugging your camera. you can also find them for cheap on line...

Okay... when I plug my 1D directly into MacBook Pro via firewire cable, the macBook doesn't recognise the camera. I have to open Canon Digital Photo Professional inorder to download photos. Does your camera show up on the desktop as a harddrive? If so, you should "eject" it before unplugging from Mac.

I can unplug my camera at anytime, though it would be un-advised to do that while downloading photos to Mac.

GeneMan88,
My Mac does not recognize the 30D, so I can't "eject" it.

Definitely use a card reader. It makes life so much easier for what, 10-20 bucks? So worth it.

It also is the preferred & recommended method from just about any one I've asked on the pro level or engineering side of digital imaging and saves your battery life in the camera.

Ditto to what everyone above has said. I use a Lexar firewire reader and it's very fast.

When you've finished downloading the images, simply turn your camera off and unplug it from the mini-USB cable. Done.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.
