So I'm gonna be using my camera(s) to do some stop motion shots and make them into a movie. I'm guessing towards if not over 2000 photos in total, plus video footage.

I use Adobe Premiere to do my editing, but that defaults to making every shot last five seconds as you import them, meaning I'd have to manually go through each shot and adjust its length in the timeline. Any of you any experience with this sort of stuff or know any shortcuts as to how you can dump 2000 photos into a timeline somewhere and turn them into a movie, playing probably for one or two frames each?

I know Quicktime Pro allows you to resave a movie as a bunch or photos, 25 per second which is handy for rotoscoping, but I'm not sure that it allows you to dump images in and resave it as a movie clip...

Any help appreciated.

Cheers, Dave.

i know in Final Cut when you throw the clips into the timeline you can select them all and set the duration all at once. Without doing each one individually. I did a stop motion shoot
we had over 3000 photos for each of the two cameras so over 6000 photos total.
heres the link to see what it looks like on this show.

Go into your preferences and for "Still Images", specify the number of frames you want them to take up.

Wicked. Half the work done...

I'm just trying to remember now as I type if you can select a load of items/images/clips at once from the library and drag them onto the timeline...

Can't open up Premiere at the moment to check...

to make it look like film youll have to blur each image ever so slightly

you want to be doing 25fps so for 2000 frames will only give you 80 seconds of footage

also use a remote trigger and keep the lighting conditions the same

have fun

Leo, that's great thankyou.

Dom, the film's gonna be a long road trip England, channel, France. I doubt in any way shape or form that I'll be able to keep the lighting the same. So I think I'll be going for a centre weighted metering and auto for the rest, which should I think keep things in line, as the 10-12 hr trip will obviously be disjointed and not 'play' as a complete smooth film.

No not at all, you're right obviously. And you've actually commented on the strict definition of stop frame animation too. What I'm doing is probably a loosely linked cousin of the craft! ;) Thanks for the tips though!
