I need to give a client black and white versions of photos from a shoot we did. I know I can use Grayscale settings and can Desaturate but I am always seeing people talking about better, more accurate methods for black and white conversion.

So what is the best and most accurate way to convert a color image to black and white?
I have Adobe Photoshop CS and Adobe Lightroom.

None of the images show up in the demo for the black and white conversion. All broken links.

Thank you guys. I'm going to download some of those presets and give them a try. I tried using a Channel Mixer adjustment layer in Photoshop and got pretty good results but it's hard for me to tell if I've got an accurate conversion. Hopefully some of the Lightroom presets will speed up the process and make it easier.

Hi René,

Thanks but that is why I indicated in my post that I have Photoshop CS (not CS2 or CS3) and Lightroom.

For now I ended up downloading some of the Lightroom presets and making some adjustments. So far so good.

My favorite for anything! His technique is one of the more versatile ones.

Then you could use "Photo Toner Technique" from the same site ;)

However, I think that most of the B&W variations should work with CS.
