I found this guy lounging with a small flock of Canada Geese near the parking area at North Beach at Sandy Hook, NJ. Looks like a Snow Goose to me! It was sunny and 70+F. I think he decided to stay where its warm!

C&C welcomed.

Awesome shot! Great exposure, very pleasant scenery. According to the locals, this bird has been there about a month or more. I saw it hanging with the Canadas. Its wing looks a bit bowed, but it can fly, at least short distances and it was feeding fine. Hope he recovers and gets outta here safely.

Thanks for the feedback, Bob. Glad you liked the shot. I took a page from Mitch's book and shot this from my car window... yes, a drive-by shooting! :D

And thanks for the bit of history on the bird.

I tried that too, but when I circled around it was even further away and in bad light. It's a great idea to shoot from a car window when you get the opportunity. I've done that many times myself. Somehow the birds are less concerned about a vehicle than a person walking.

So far, I have rarely shot from the car but it worked very well. And even though I drive a hybrid, I did remember to shut the engine off to prevent an vibration. :D
