Hey I know "image persistence" is a common problem across all LCDs, but my Viewsonic seems to be getting it pretty darn quick after pulling up Firefox or Photoshop or some such thing...not exactly a "long time" either. I'm wondering if anyone has the Samsung 226BW LCD screen. If so, is it a good one and is the aforementioned "image persistence" a major issue? I know how to get rid of it (ie turning off the LCD for awhile or simply playing a white screen saver, etc) but the problem occurs more often than not, and I can't have my screen OFF that long all the time...I need to use the dang thing! Thus I'm looking at getting the Samsung, if it's not more problematic than the Viewsonic I already have - the VA902b for those interested.

Any input is appreciated!

I'm using a 226bw, it has no ghosting or image burn in problem. theres two batch of lcd panel on it, theres the S panel (from samsung) and an A panel (from another manufactuer) the S panel has very positive reviews and the A panel has some minor problems such as bleeding along the edges. I have a S panel and i love it.

Thanks for your insight, inzite. :) I read about the S/A panel thing but since I can't control which I would get, I don't care which is used as long as the monitor is good.

I've also read about gradation of brightness from top to bottom...do you have any experience with this?

Do you use your panel extensively per sitting that burn-in could be an issue, or are you not on it much at a time? I have to use mine pretty much all day everyday with very little downtime.

mines on pretty much all the time and i dont' see any burn in issue, the gradation of brightness is a common thing for TN panels. just adjust ur eye level to the center part of the screen and it should be fine. u can't really get away from gradation of brightness unless u get significantly better panels.
