Good! One less thing I need to learn...Crap!~ I just ordered the card from them I ordered my 4 gig from em, so hopefully they won't snafu it...need it for my first MMA shoot!

I'm not suggesting that you use only B&H or 17th Street, just that I now run on a 'Two Strikes and You're Out!' rule in my business ... there are just too many reliable vendors out there to be giving anybody third or more chances ... I'm not running a charity!

An interesting question ... I think they are walking the same path and may be indistinguishable! :-)

I don't think there's anything to get back ... I shot 5 brackets 1-stop apart and even in the darkest there is nothing. I tried the "recover" option of LightRoom at 100% and got what you see. BTW, for the first time I noticed that your "You may miss the critical moment if you bracket" get in my way ... he'd move out from behind the mic, I'd start a bracket and by the time the third frame fired (1/4 second later) he would be back behind it! A couple of more RAW shoots and I may quit bracketing ... or at least move back down to three maybe 1-1/3 apart.

Yes, he seemed abit more tired than last time but he sure hasn't lost his voice! And yes, they are all pretty centered but mostly as a result of him everyone being quite stationary ... they are all old except the harmonica guy ... but here's one in landscape that isn't centered:

QUOTED IMAGE

Yes, I started shooting RAW+L, then downloaded them into separate folders and worked with just the RAW using LightRoom. When I discovered I didn't need the jpegs I decided to try RAW only ... I'm not sure what I will do for boxing ... but I think RAW may be on the horizon ... I'll just need a couple of more 8GB or 12GB cards!

Most of the time when I was close with the 300mm the light was less than optimal. As I mentioned to Rene, that forearm was totally blown out even two stops underexposed.

I love this shot. I actually think I like it the best.

A word to the wise on the large storage cards. They are not all the same. I bought a 4 gig sandisk card that was so slow it would take 5 minutes to get started up and took forever between shots. It's not compatible with Canon's firmware upgrade. To Sandisk's credit, I sent it back and they sent me an 8 gig card which is far better, but after I get going it can't keep up and hangs up. That was one of the problems I had with the Mute Math photos -- I left my other 4 gig card in the reader and it got ridiculous trying to get a photo. Even when it let me take multiple shots, I couldn't look at them very quickly. I have a 4 gig Hitachi microprocesser card that came with my camera that is very fast and outstanding. I also just bought a 2 gig card from Lexar that is a Platinum II 80X that is wonderfully fast from Wal Mart. The 8 gig card will be for slower shooting when I have plenty of time. LOL

What camera and what sandisk card?
I use multiple Sandisk cards in my 1D2 (512Mb to 2Gig, Ultra to Extreme3), and have no problems whatsoever. Same goes for 4Gb Ultra2 to Extreme4 in a 1Ds2 (not mine ;))

It did seem like it took FOREVER for the Sandisk 4 gig to download on my PS2000. I just ordered a Sandisk IV 8 gig, in the hopes of just building up enough memory reserve to minimize dumping shots during a shoot...just too distracting and irritating. I've heard the IV's download very quick...

the add-on pic in post #12 is definitely my favorite. this set's not bad, but then again the energy level of a septuagenarian playing acoustic guitar is not gonna be too high.

in the full stage shot of #7, it looks like willie's face is all blurred/grayed out. just my eyes monitor?

B & H is a beautiful place... My sister goes there often and sends me their catalogs regularly... I occasionally buy from B & H and am very pleased... I know of Dwight's problem with Adorama... I buy some stuff from them too, and have my fingers crossed that I don't start having a problem too...

The Sandisk Cards "Ultra II 4Gig", are only OK when I shoot straight RAW and "bracketed" and not RAW + JPG and "bracketed"... Otherwise, the buffer is constantly taking up precious time during stage action...

The profile shot of Willie is excellent...

I'm surprised you all like that last shot so much as it doesn't much appeal to me even though I included it in my gallery, but that is why I try hard to get as large a variety of images as I can. I have a little "dance" I do that lasts about 3 or 4 songs: up front stage left, move to center, move to stage right, back to center, back to stage left (where my equipment cases are) and make any switches that may be required, then walk up the wall to 2/3rds back and across the aisle to right in front of the soundboard, then up the riser steps to over the head of the lightboard ... TADA! Most of that route is done with a 70-200mm f/2.8L IS in one hand and 300mm f/2.8L IS in the other. Trades offs may be replacing 70-200mm with 24-70mm or even 16-35mm ... I rarely ditch the 300mm f/2.8L IS unless the situation makes it totally useless. If I can shoot after that then I study the stage and go to couple more good spots like right in front of the usher that sits in the center aisle by Row 6 (sometimes people comment on him in my shots as he seems quite out of place.)

Thanks, Mills ... I also got the more traditional version:

I'll have to find it from the camera case later to get more specific, but the 4 gig card from Sandisk was the microprocessor drive (which I have a 4 gig microprocessor from Hitachi that works great), and I'm using a Canon 20D. According to Sandisk, the firmware upgrade to the 20D was not compatible with the card for some reason. I have a number of Sandisk 1 gig cards that work just fine. Just make sure it's compatible. I didn't even think there would possibly be a compatibility problem when I originally ordered as I'd never heard of that with a CF card before.

I haven't had a problem with any others.
