Canon G1 Dead!

Dropped my Canon G1 and now it won't turn on at all, but it displays an error E24. Anybody know what this means?

E24 = Error 24

Error 24 may mean the Camera has been dropped and will cease to function unless serviced by an authorized Canon repair technician.

I don't think any piece of technology can handle this one design flaw - dropping the G1 even with its strong metal casing is just not advised... I always keep the strap wrapped around my wrist.
