mama blackbird built her nest about 3 feet from the viewing platform at a local wetland park, and her eggs hatched a couple of days ago. it's a bit challenging shooting through the 'window' in the dead cattails (gotta use manual focus, AF gets confused by the reeds!), and the view is a bit cramped, but it's still a window into a world most people don't get to see...

A bit difficult to see w/ the reeds as you mentioned, but great shots regardless. Quite a meal that one has in the 2nd shot! Guess the family is used to having people close having built the nest so close to the platform
