I never connect the camera to my Mac.

I don't either - much simpler using the card reader!

hmmmm...looks like i will get a card reader. For those of you with them, do you see an advantage going with one for fire wire? I could easily do a usb 2.0.....but if I can use my fire wire, why not?
thanks for the replies and help! I did not know 1.4 did not support 50D.

Support for the 50D was added in LR 2.1. ;)

I got a new computer and am trying to install lightroom 1.1 from the disk i bought and installed on my old computer. It seems to install ok, although it never asks for my serial number, but then when I try to open the program i get this error msg

application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150004).....click ok to terminate program

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times. I have tried upgrading to 1.2, 1.3, 1.4......... nothing seems to work. I am running Vista on this one as I had XP on the old computer. Its a brand new computer so I doubt it has any viruses or anything yet. I did however install adaware. I have had no problem installing a few other programs from disks onto this computer.

Anyone have an idea how to fix this problem so I can move onto my new computer?

Thanks!

I wonder if I should switch from Aperture to LR? There seem to be more knowledge sharing with LR, since it's for both platforms.

Can any one tell me why LR won't import from my card reader? It won't take my raw files and import them. Frustrating.
It's like with my 50D. I have to download them to my HD first.....which takes time.
Actually....maybe I missed something completely. My LR is not opening any of my cr2 files? I have to convert them first? errrrrrr newb......

previous thread answered question. need to convert dng first.

i always drag/drop my cr2 files from the camera to where i want them on the harddrive then import to lightroom from the harddrive. i always plug the camera in too instead of comtinuously removing the card from the camera.

Open LR2 > Help > Check for updates > download the update.
Worked for me. LR reads my CR2 files and does import from my card (Lexar 8gb 300x UDMA) without any problem. And I also own a 50D.

I do not have LR2!! yet. LR2 does support the 50D I know. As i said a bit back, I am not trying to spend more money when I just got LR1 not long ago.

hey all.....enjoying lr2 now! Question:
I import say 30 pics. I develop them all and then export to a separate storage hard drive for somewhat safe keeping. Now, I am done with these photos unless I want to go cs3 or paint shop. When I load lr2, it brings up everything still, all the photos I already exported and edited. How can I prevent this or is this just lr2's way of saving my pics?
