Gotcha, I just didn't know why the Download page that automatically opened said it was for LR 4.1. I went to the "New Downloads" page, clicked the link for 4.3, and it properly shows that it's for LR 4.3, so I'm wondering if it's some kind of glitch....?

Sad to say, I've had to move to a new place with an internet provider that is way slower than the cable/broadband provider I've been using for a lot of years, and it looks like it's gonna be over an hour to download :(!

It's a fairly big file - around 780MB - so yea, could take a bit depending on connection speed. Good luck, and keep posting your fantastic work - really enjoy your submissions. Cheers man!

Yeah, it's chugging away, just slow compared to what I'm used to. It's frustrating to work with a slow system!

And hey, thanks for the upbeat word! I can use all the encouragement I can get:)!

A couple useful links were posted by the Facebook Lightroom team:

Here are lists of bug fixes, cameras and lenses supported, added with 4.3:

http://blogs.adobe.com …om-4-3-now-available.html (external link)

And then, here is a very useful page listing performance "enhancement" suggestions, very much worth checking out:

http://helpx.adobe.com …nce-hints.html?sdid=KBQWU (external link)

Of note in the above is a link to Photoshop performance enhancements/suggestions that covers PS memory usage and such, helpful for those of us who go from Lightroom to PS, so I'll post that link seperately:

http://helpx.adobe.com …ce-photoshop-cs4-cs5.html (external link)

Thanks Tony. Based on the Adobe information I messed up by putting my catalog on my data drive instead of my SSD. Looks like it's time to follow the instructions on how to move it :)

Hey, I don't have an SSD drive, so my catalog is just on my internal "data" drive...

As to moving it, well, you'll have to do the "Find Missing" files/folders thing but forunately Lightroom is pretty "smart" about doing that once you get it started...!

No, if you are moving only the catalog and the photo files remain in their present location you won't need to do Find Missing. If the catalog is in its default location which is My Pictures/Lightroom (a folder that LR made the first time you launched it), with LR closed just move or copy (copy is safer) the folder to the SSD. Or relocate just the contents of the folder, the .lrcat file and the lrdata folder to the same new folder on the SSD. Then go to the .lrcat on the SSD and double-click it. This launches LR and if in Preferences you have it set to always open with the last used catalog, it will continue to use it when opened from the icon. As a check, look at Catalog Settings to see what location is listed. If everything is cool, you can delete the originals (if you copied them).

Hey, Elie, always good to have you around!

It's been a few years since I've had to do this kind of thing!

I did something similar just yesterday, my end of year ritual. I have two catalogs, Old and Current, and at the end of the year I move all the contents of Current to Old in order to clear the decks for the new year. Old is on my internal drive and its photos are on an external while Current is on a "kind of" SSD, a Lexar 16 GB CF card in a CF to Express adapter that is permanently in the Express Card slot (and is very fast) and its photos are on the internal and the external. So I exported Current and then imported/merged it into Old and then removed all the 2012 files from Current. Sounds complicated, but it works well.

Just learned something today about previews that was bothering me since starting with LR. I apologize if I missed it and this has already been discussed in this thread.

Standard previews were always displaying really soft unless I first enlarged the image to 1:1 (or larger) then returned the size to fit. I didn't realize that this was a normal behavior if the standard preview size was set to a dimension lower than your screen width.

In my case I have a 1920 x 1200 resolution but my standard preview size was set to 1680 pixels. This site, http://www.prophotoresource.com …e-lightroom-previews.html (external link) , along with a couple of other forums said to increase the preview size to something higher than your screen resolution. This was good advice since after setting the size to 2048 (next size up from 1680) the issue went away :)

Enjoy it, but take your time and do your "homework"! I encourage people to get either the Scott Kelby book, or the Martin Evening book or the Victoria Bampton book and carefull work through the whole book from the beginning, even if you at the time don't find all the Management stuff interesting.

And then, there are several sites that offer good, comprehensive tutorials on Lightroom, Lynda.com, KelbyTraining.com, PixelGenius.com, SLRLounge.com, and Lightroom Queen.com, and many other places where you can see tutorials scattered around the internet!

The Scott Kelby book is really good, I read it and although I knew Lightroom pretty well beforehand it gave me some cool tips/tricks to better process my photos!

I read the first edition of the Kelby book, back when LR first came out, in fact I think I got the book during the Beta phase of LR1, and I found it a very good "primer"!

Later I got one of the Martin Evening books, he is a very good "in-depth" author, more technical depth than the Kelby books but Kelby is very good with "hands-on" stuff!
