i had an idea tonight
took a manfrotto Light stand, a monopod head, some string and my 350d+18-55mm (just because its my lightest wide angle setup)
strapped it to the towbar on my fiancee's car and went out and took some shots

here we go

ok, so its not too stable, and i can only put it one position, but it worked and i have rolling shots

let me know what you think, is it any good ?
i will probably try this weekend out in the sunshine instead of nighttime

i think and im saying "think" because i never do rig shots yet, i think u just have to make the rig more stable, or drive slower and u should have some sharp lines. Payday is this thrusday and i already have everything in lowes ready to go, i cant wait to build this rig. Good luck man, Soon we will all be like JDMoto haha

yea stability is a big issue, if i had a really wide angle lens i would have used that and i wouldnt have had to extend the lightstand out as far
i am still thinking of how to mount a proper rig under the car (im thinking Manfrotto superclamps and a spidery kinda arrangement

the head i used for these shots is showing some wear where it contacted the ground, lucky it wasnt my camera

Hmm.. is the PP to remove the rig a PITA? Mind posting the picture that came right out of the camera?

not really, the bit around the towbar was a little tricky
this is a different shot (its got my head hanging out of the window)
but its as the camera took it - no WB adjustment, no PP, just a straight conversion from Raw to jpg

the pink string running from the towball to the stand was there just to try and keep the rig from contacting the ground (didnt work too well) and to try and stabilise it a little bit (which it did - a little bit)
