That's a Rose Breasted Grosbeak. They just showed up here a few days ago. They also have a nice call.

Thank you for the reply. That is a neat looking bird. He made his way down to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Well, he winters over in the tropics, then flies North for the summer, up around here. So he may just be there for a few days, resting up for the flight up the Mississippi flyway. :)

My friend saw him two days in a row. He hasn't been back since then. He must have taken flight again. Thanks for the great info.

I saw mine only one morning. I'm kind of hoping they stayed around. My book shows them as summering in this area, so I do hope to get more pics. :)
