RAW and colorspace

probably a dumb question, but are both Adobe RGB and sRGB available to RAW images, and chosen via the dropdown menu in Adobe Camera RAW? about all i know is that the gamut is wider for Adobe RGB, but you need to convert to sRGB for web use.

i should probably learn more.

anyway, i did see in the 30D's menu a place to select one or the other, but if i shoot RAW does this matter? is it only for jpgs where it gets selected at this stage?

Both options are available in ACR as well as ProPhotoRGB. When shooting RAW it does not matter which color space you choose until conversion. Note that images in sRGB will use the image numbering system IMG_xxxx.cr2, while Adobe RGB will use _MG_xxxx.cr2.

Also, the 'in camera' setting affects how the image is displayed on the camera LCD. (As do the parameters in camera).
