w00t, my very first Wren shot and the first little wren I've seen in more than 40 years. And only the 4th blast through the new Better Beamer that just arrived in the mail.

I think it's a House Wren...

Great shot Mitch of the Wren. Looks like it was right in front of the lens!. How are you liking the Bigma? Can you hand hold?

Excellent image, Mitch.

So you are now using a Better Beamer. The eye looks great for using a flash. Did you use a bracket as well. If so, what kind? I am in the market.

Thanks Rathke. The bird was right in front of me when I first saw it, not 4 feet away and I didn't dare move. He was too close anyway, then he flew to that rung of a table he's perched on and that's where I took the shot, at about 15 feet. I am loving the Bigma, and you can hand hold for short periods but I use either the Monopod or Tripod even when I am shooting from my window blind like today. It's just too heavy to hold steady by hand. :)

Thanks Ed. No, didn't use a bracket, just on top of the camera. I have a bracket, one of those with the flex arm on it from B&H that I got for Macro, but there is no way to put the camera on that and the bracket on the tripod. This is the only shot out of maybe 15 so far with the Beamer, that doesn't have that bad light spot in the eye. And even this one has a small spot.

Thanks Jason. It landed first only a few feet away, too close at 500mm. I thought it was some kind of bee at first. LOL. Tiny little things. :)

By the way, this is with the Bigma and 20mm Kenko tube. ;)

Great catch of a cute little House Wren!:) I am very envious, I have 5 species of wrens on my life list, but sadly, this is not one of them...

Very nice catch Mitch. The fill flash really brought out the detail. btw, 40 years equals a lot of patience.

Excellent. I like the pose particularly. The house wren is cocked and ready to move, and that puts drama into the image.

Thanks Downy. But I think this might be the only species we have here. Maybe the Winter Wren too. I have to check the books.

Thanks Kevin. We had these around the farm house as a kid, but I have not seen one since, until today. It's a great day. :)

Steve, he was ready and took off as soon as the flash went off. But I can outwait him. :)

Anyone know what they eat? My book says nothing at all.
