Anyone know what they eat? My book says nothing at all.

Mitch, I doubt they eat nothing. :D

All wrens are predominantly insect eaters.

Thanks Gary. I've just been experimenting with the Beamer. I can see where it will have it's uses, especially for backlit or even harsh light shots, but I still like the no flash look.

Thanks Steve. From the shape of the beak, that's what I figured, I just wondered what it was doing in the seeds. :)

Thanks Ted. This is probably the best or next best picture I have taken yet. And it's mostly luck. I got one shot and oh my, it was in focus. ;)

Nice one Mitch! Quite sharp - you can see the individual barbs in the feathers.

Thanks Dan. Yeah, I saw the light was OK in the preview window and it looked in focus, which was one rush, then when I saw the detail on my monitor I got a big rush. Funny how it's the simple things that are best. :)

Very good shot Mitch. Better then the only shots I've gotten of this wired up little
bird.

Wonderful shot as usual CL!! Thanks for continuing to inspire me. The detail is just awesome, I can only imagine the rush you got with this. I heard a house wren in the yard today but didn't get a peak. Do you get any Carolina Wrens? They are very pretty also.

Thanks George. A lot of luck went into getting this one. ;)

Thanks Michele. This is the only wren of any kind I have seen since living here. I know they are around, I just haven't found any yet, but I also don't know what other wrens are around in this area either. I'll have to read my books tonight. :)

Wow...fantastic shot of the Wren. These are so hard to capture. Super sharp with great details and a beautiful bokeh. Love the brown eye. Excellent, excellent work. :-)

Best regards

Sindri

Thanks Sindri and Pete. It's amazing how one tiny bird can get me stoked up. He disappeared into the bushes at the edge of my yard. I hope he has cause to hang around. :)

Mitch, you can lure them. Probably there'll be a pair nesting nearby. They like to nest in thick cover. When you find the nest, get a bunch of waxworms or mealworms from a bait store and set them a few at a time in an open spot on a nice perch near the nest. You'll have plenty of chances to get more captures of Mr. and Mrs. Wren then.

Thanks Steve. You can believe I will be looking for this bird again. I even have a cup of mealy worms in the fridge, for hand feeding the Chickadees at my favorite spot. If they are around, I'll take care of them. ;)

When the bird first appeared, I was sitting in my window blind and it landed within touching distance then went to the perch where I took the shot, maybe 15 feet away. I guess it has no interest in seeds?

Nope, no seeds for the house wren. Pretty soon they'll really be on the prowl for rich juicy insects loaded with protein — lots of young beaks to fill.
