though we don't get those pretty rose breasted ones these are some gorgeous birds .

they just got back into town last weekend.

I wish we had this species in Tennessee. I'm almost weary of photographing the rose-breasted variety, and they've only been around for a couple of weeks.

Those are beautiful shots of a very pretty bird. I have never seen one before thanks for sharing.

A species we don't see posted very often, and quite a beautiful bird it is! All nice shots, although there are some odd artifacts happening in the last one.

thanx to everyone for the nice words! this page is great as we get to see birds that don't always frequent our own area.:D :D

yes, he was in my back yard. i have seen about 6 or 7 males and a few females but they are much shyer. trying to get a good shot of a female as they are quite colorful also but as with most breeds, pale in comparison to the males. ;)

not sure about the artifacts in the last one though alln have been cropped and enlarged for displaying the beauty of the bird as opposed to the technical clarity points.
could be what you are seeing but then all of them have it. :D
